THANKS EVERYONE!

Updated chart and list below – New items in green.

I will be working on personalizing the ornaments and crafty things on Thursday after 9:30 if you’d like to join me. J

Hi AAP “Moms”,

We’ve already got a great list going of things that will make our troops’ Holidays HAPPY! – THANK YOU!! J  Below is a list of things that we still need and don’t need anymore and the chart of what everyone has gotten so far.  Please read the list and look at the chart so you spend your hard earned money wisely.  I’ve decided that a couple of 4-6 foot trees will be better than 26 small ones.  The plan is to give each soldier a bag full of ornaments so they can decorate the trees themselves. Let me know if you have an artificial tree you need to get rid of. J  Keep your eyes open for ornaments we can write messages on, I hope to go to the dollar store tomorrow.

If you are bringing games or gifts and would like to wrap them before bringing them that would be very helpful.  I’m sorry to ask you to do that, but it will save us a lot of time.  As always, please let me know what you are getting so I can keep you updated it and we don’t get duplicates. THANKS!!

Things we don’t need (based on what we already have-see chart):  (New items added are in green)

*Blankets and hats (I’m waiting to hear back from them to see if they’d like more.  If you already have hats, please bring them!)

*Playing cards – (I still have lots left over donated from Foxwoods and we send them every other shipment.)

Here is the information about our new platoon:

There are 30 Soldiers in your Army platoon.  They are deployed from Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Afghanistan.

Their living conditions are not very good. They do have a small PX with very little supplies and there are a lot of things that it does not have. Your Soldiers are living in tents and have limited power and water.  They do not have daily hot meals.  Most Soldiers have a plug in burner they can use.  It will be very cold for them during the winter months, so please keep that in mind when planning your care packages.  We realize that these are tough times for everyone and all we ask is that you do the best that you can in providing support. The most important part of any support for the Troops are letters as they read them over and over.

Suggestions for care packages:

Any type of can goods with pull off lids, Vienna sausages, Ramen noodles, beef jerky, trail mix, powdered drink mix singles to add to bottled water, granola bars, protein bars, beef jerky, dried fruit, mixed nuts, gum, sunflower seeds, freezer pops, trail mix, prepackaged cookies, powdered drink mix singles, any kind of chocolate after Oct. 1, personal hygiene items such as shower to shower powder, mouthwash, deodorant, bath size wipes, hand sanitizer wipes, Kleenex, Q-tips, medicated foot powder.  For the winter they would appreciate: blankets, hand warmers; black knit hats, extra gloves, skin lotion, lip balm and instant hot chocolate packets.  For Their Down Time:  They would appreciate support letters, current magazines, card/board games, dominoes, darts/dart boards, DVD’s, anything Nerf and support during the holiday season with decorations/music and holiday cards to send home to family/friends.

THANK YOU!!

Don’t forget to take labels off of your magazines and boxes.

THANKS again for your fantastic support!
